Chulitna Lodge Artist Residency
May 17th - June 8th, 2025
Lake Clark National Park and Preserve, Alaska.
Project: Installation and hybrid published text.
Marissa Ayala will undertake a three-week artist residency at Chulitna Lodge in Lake Clark National Park this Spring to conduct art-based fieldwork, documenting the environment, soundscapes, ecosystem, habitats, wildlife, and local perspectives of people, particularly concerning the Willow Pipeline development.
Art-based fieldwork includes digital photography, video, contact and hydraulic sound recordings, watercolors, charcoal, pencil, and found material for mixed-media collage.
Marissa emphasizes eco-conscious materials and, with this project, aims to raise awareness of the beauty, fragility, and erasure of Alaska's natural resources, people, and land.
