Monthly Workshops

Poetry Club—This group of beginner and intermediate writers focused on poetry. It begins with a writing prompt, a free-write, and a workshop critique of two or three poets' works.

Advanced Poetry Club—This is an advanced section for poets and hybrid writers who have formally studied creative writing, published books, or are working on more extensive collections for traditional publication. It begins with a writing prompt, a free-write, and a workshop critique of two poets’ work.

Critique—This is a full critique. It begins by reading an author’s published work and providing a formal critique, followed by a critique of two writers’ submissions.

Writing Group—This prose workshop is designed to develop fiction, nonfiction, creative nonfiction, and hybrid texts for publication.

Monthly Writing Group - Wednesdays

Writing is a wave that comes in and out of my life. It allows me to be patient in the thinking process. When I write, I tune into the radio frequencies of inner thought.

In my writing workshops, I hold space for others to sit with the free flow of creativity and new ideas. In this group setting, I facilitate and invite writers to engage with their process while collectively focusing on sharing and critiquing one another’s work.

Bimonthly Critique - Wednesdays

My current writing focus is on strengthening my ability to critically examine my work and the work of other authors and emerging writers.

In my workshops, we critique a submission (up to 4500 words) to help the author understand how their work is perceived, where it shines, and where it needs more attention. We praise the work’s merits and focus on developing the short story, memoir, or novel into its best possible state. We are kind and constructive and always respect differing perspectives.

Please join us and become a better writer/reader; we would love to have you!

Monthly Writing Group + Monthly Advanced Poetry Club - Sundays

My goal for both sections of my workshops, Writing Group and Advanced Poetry Club is for writers and multidisciplinary artists to discover new pathways into creative thought. I use multi-sensory prompts that break participants’ habitual entry into writing, encouraging experimentation and creative risk. Through writing prompts, I position the writing process as an opportunity to play with language.

When it comes to critique, I lean into the socio-emotional experience of writers to ensure that everyone experiences a sense of connection and support while receiving feedback designed to strengthen and celebrate their skills specific to storytelling and craft.

Monthly Poetry Club - Sundays

I’m deeply interested in imagery, musicality, and poems that are never afraid to speak with their Whole Chest.

As the facilitator of one of our poetry workshops, I’m always excited to welcome newcomers to the group space and the craft of poetry. I strive to make the workshop fruitful for critique and free writing, with prompts and an intentional structure to discuss submitted work. The goal is to make sure everyone who attends leaves feeling like a growing poet and an improving student of the craft.
